STUART, Iowa (May 9) – Chris Pruitt of Stuart led the 20-lap IMCA
Modified feature race for 19 laps Sunday night, but he didn’t lead the one
that counted.2004
Pruitt’s uncle Terry Pruitt of Dexter won the feature race after his
car and his nephew’s car made contact in turn two of the final lap. Terry
Pruitt, who celebrated his 44th birthday Sunday, sped to the
checkered flag, while Chris Pruitt sat sideways in turn two.
Terry Pruitt was followd by rookie Ben Hoesing (Boone), Rod Scheuermann
(Scranton), Mike Pruitt (Stuart) and Darren Huntley (Ogden) across the stripe
as the race ended with the checkered and yellow flags flying together.
Jason Murray of Hartford won the IMCA Stock Car feature. He crossed the
line ahead of Curt Ganoe (Stuart), Dave Gettler (Adair), Tim Baker (Winterset)
and Eric Stanton (Hartford).
Twin IMCA Hobby Stock features were won by Jamie Hinton of Altoona and
Tim Gannon of Des Moines. Hinton won race No. 1 ahead of Brian Eddy (Waukee),
Nyle Godwin (Redfield), Jason Pruitt (Minburn) and Chad Waddell (Stuart).
Chasing Gannon in race No. 2 were Mark Hidlebaugh (Ames), Troy Hudson
(Altoona), John Watson (Des Moines) and John Wetzel (Winterset).
Mike Morrill of Altoona won the Dwarf Car feature ahead of Fred
Schimmels (Van Meter), Bobby Egeland (Jefferson), Jerry Schimmels (Van Meter)
and David Smith (Des Moines).
In Front Wheel Drive action, Jeromy Christensen of Greenfield remained
unbeaten at Stuart this year as he won over Chad Kusel (Ogden), Josh May (DeSoto),
Michael Ross (Des Moines) and Whitney Huntlet (Ogden).
The team of Tyler and Warner won the two-person cruiser feature.
Racing continues Sunday with hot laps at 5:30 p.m. and racing at 6 p.m.
