RE: “Pruitt, Ganoe, Renslow, Hudson, Dennis tops at Stuart”
BY BILL HAGLUND
STUART, Iowa (May 23) – Once again Sunday night, a Pruitt visited victory lane following the IMCA Modified 20-lap feature race.
This time, however, it was Josh Pruitt of Dexter taking the win – his first of the 2004 campaign at his hometown track. He took the win over Ben Hoesing of Boone with two more Pruitts – Mike and Chris, both of Stuart – taking third and fourth ahead of Joe College from Earlham.
In the IMCA Stock Car feature, Stuart’s Curt Ganoe won for the first time this season, leading all the way and holding off Damon Murty of Chelsea, Bob Daniels of Des Moines, Luke Veren of Haverhill and Maynard Davis III of Runnells.
Veren, a regular at the Benton County Speedway in Vinton on Sundays, made an infrequent visit to Stuart when his home track was rained out. He took fourth, but went home “engine-less” as Danny Hill of Des Moines claimed Veren’s engine following the race.
Twin IMCA Hobby Stock events were won by Troy Hudson (Altoona) and Steve Renslow (Stuart).
Hudson defeated Jacob Murray (Hartford), Tim Gannon (Des Moines), Andrew Burg (Adel) and Larry Embrey (Granger) in the first 12-lap event, while Renslow won over Jamie Schirm (Dexter), Justin Maschke (Knoxville), Josh Reynolds (Greenfield) and Rodney Grother (Cedar Rapids) in the second.
Rick Dennis of Granger scored his first Dwarf Car feature victory, taking the 12-lapper over Shane Hunter (Afton), Brian Miller (Grand Junction), Mike Morrill (Altoona) and Randy Rudolf (Grand Junction).
Also Sunday, Jeromy Christensen of Greenfield won the Front Wheel Drive feature over Chad Krusel of Ogden and Amy Dennis of Granger, while the team of Howell and Bushnell of Madrid won the two-person cruiser car feature.
The annual “Ron Little Memorial” event will be held next Sunday, Memorial Day weekend, with added money in the IMCA Modified feature event. Also on tap will be the season’s first appearance of the 305 cubic inch “non-winged” sprint cars. Race time is 6 p.m.
