Mid-Season Championships

STUART, Iowa (June 27) – Josh Pruitt of Dexter captured the IMCA Modified 20-lap feature Sunday night, highlighting racing action at Stuart Speedway.
In other action, the May family of DeSoto dominated things with Jimmy May capturing the Dwarf Car feature race, while his 13-year-old son, Josh, won the front wheel drive feature event.
Other winners included Josh Daniels of Des Moines in the IMCA stock car main, Troy Hudson of Ankeny in the IMCA hobby stock feature and the team of Howell and Bushnell of Madrid in the two-person cruiser class.
Pruitt drove a steady race to win the IMCA modified main over Chris Pruitt from Stuart, Scott Bailey of Carlisle, Bobby Bowman of Winterset and last week’s feature winner Rex Parkison of Earlham.
Daniels won his first stock car feature as he held off defending point champion Dave Baugh of Jefferson, Maynard Davis III of Runnells, Jerry McElderry of Altoona and Curt Ganoe of Stuart.
Hudson was declared the winner in the hobby stock feature when the yellow was thrown after a last-lap crash. He won over John Wetzel of Winterset, Chad Waddell of Stuart, Bill Bonnett of Knoxville and John Allison of Des Moines.
Jimmy May won the dwarf car main over Sam Coe of Des Moines, Shane Hunter of Afton, Fred Schimmels of Van Meter and Randy Bryan of Story City.
Next Sunday’s action will include a candy throw for the kids, fireworks following the races, plus a special appearance by the 305 non-winged sprint cars. Action begins at 6 p.m.
