STUART, Iowa (Aug. 8) – Veteran Des Moines driver Dave Farren sped to his second IMCA modified feature win of the season at Stuart Speedway Sunday, holding off a fast-closing Chris Pruitt at the end of the 20-lap headline event.

In other racing action, John Watson of Des Moines won for the first time in the IMCA stock car division, Chad Waddell of Stuart topped the IMCA hobby stock feature race, Fred Schimmels of Van Meter notched the dwarf  car victory, Chad Kugel of Ogen won in the front wheel drive main and the duo of Howell and Bushnell scored the two-person cruiser feature win.

The 58-year-old Farren started up front in the modified main and stayed there throughout, building a sizeable lead by mid-race, then holding off both Chris and Mike Pruitt in the closing laps. Rex Parkison and Ben Hoesing rounded out the top five.

Watson, too, led all the way in picking up his first 15-lap stock car win of the season. He took the checkers ahead of Jason Murray, Bob Daniels, Curt Ganoe and Jason Day.

Waddell was a third flag-to-flag winner as he topped the 12-lap hobby stock finale, beating Nyle Godwin, Jamie Schirm, Jacob  Murray and Josh Reynolds to the stripe.

Schimmels battled from a sixth row starting spot to win the dwarf car 12-lap event, passing young Cory Dennis late in the race for the victory. Dennis was second, followed by Randy Rudolf, Shane Hunter and Mike Morrill.
