STUART SPEEDWAY RESULTS (August 15)

STUART, Iowa (August 15) – Tim Gannon of Des Moines captured the IMCA Modified feature race win Sunday night at Stuart Speedway, holding off veteran Dave Farren, also from Des Moines, in the 20-lap headline event.
Also on Sunday, Rick Houseman of Winterset won his first IMCA Stock Car feature, leading from wire-to-wire in the 20-lap event to cross the stripe ahead of Stuart’s Curt Ganoe.
Jacob Murray of Hartford won the IMCA Hobby Stock feature race over Troy Hudson of Ankeny, Mike Morrill of Altoona captured the Dwarf Car feature over Sam Coe of Des Moines, Chad Kugel of Ogden won the Front Wheel Drive main over Alex Wheeler of Dallas Center, and the duo of Howell & Bushnell of Madrid won the Two-Person Cruiser feature race.
Before racing action began, racers and fans stood in silence in memory of Maynard Davis III of Runnells, who lost his life in a racing accident Saturday during the Iowa State Fair. Davis had led the IMCA point standings at Stuart at the time of his untimely death.
Racers went through the grandstands and pit area with helmets and collected more than $2,000 to be given to Davis’ widow and two young daughters. At the start of the Stock Car feature, fans stood as the drivers went into the “missing man” formation and left the pole position for the race vacant to honor the memory of their comrade.
Racing action resumes next Sunday with hot laps at 5:30 p.m. and racing at 6 o’clock on the quarter-mile oval.
